Frequently asked questions
It is possible to apply for a scholarship from PEESE?
- Further lists of institutions or foundations which promote research [1]
- Study in Europa [2]
I don't have any German
knowledge. Can I apply for PEESE anyway?
Yes, you can. To be admitted, you need only to
have English knowledge which fulfills our admission requirements. A
German language course (you have to pay separately for that) will be
offered in the first semester. By the beginning of the second semester
you must prove that you have sufficient knowledge of the German
language. For more informations about the application requirements
please read the overview and the application.
How many exchange programmes are supported by the
Technical University of Berlin?
TU Berlin actively supports a number of student
exchange programmes. Each year, more than 550 university students take
part in any of 230 exchange programmes with partner universities in
Europe and other areas of the globe. Financial support for the
programmes comes from a number of organisations, such as the German
Academic Exchange Service [3] (DAAD), the EU Commission
(Sokrates/Erasmus), the Fulbright Commission, the German-French
university programme or TU Berlin's direct exchange programmes.
Where can I get help or supports?
The International Office [4] are the partners
for international students who come to study at the TU Berlin. Whether
it's a matter of a residency permit, a place to rent or making
contacts between German and international students the International
Office can help.
When will I receive an answer regarding my application for PEESE?
It's hard to tell how long it will take to send
you an answer. Because usually, uni-assist checks if your
documents are complete and will then forward the paperwork to the TU
Berlin (Technical University Berlin). Here all your documents and
certificates will be examined after which a reply is sent back via
international mail. The whole process may take some time according to
the country you're from. So make sure you apply as early as possible.
How can I apply for visa?
- Please note in case you have already applied for PEESE via uni-assist on-line portal and are waiting for an answer from TU Berlin: You have got (or will get) a letter from uni-assist confirming that all the necessary documents have been received and are being forwarded to TU Berlin for the examination of your application. Normally, with this letter you can go to your embassy and may apply for a visa. That way you may not have a definite answer that you're accepted, but you save time for your visa application with the German embassy (since that process will take some time).
- Visa
precedures depend on the country you come from and are quite diverse
so we can not give particular hints for visa-application.
Please contact your local embassy!
Are there any
accommodations?
"Studentenwerk" [5] and
"Studentendorf Schlachtensee [6]" are offering single
appartments and flat-sharing communities. Partner programmes plan to
accomodate their students there, so you will live close to other
international students. Schlachtensee gives you the possibility to
find fast and unbureaucratic a flat. You can decide to stay there or
you can leave unproblematic when you found another
appartement.
How much are the living costs?
- Administration of TU Berlin for 6 months, incl. compulsive public transportation ticket: approximately 300 €

to a monthly minimum of 600-700 €
